Description

After more than four years, Professor Lorimer Moseley is finally returning to the US for two live courses that will transform your approach to integrating pain science and education into your clinical practice.

Professor Moseley has been busy ‘Down Under’ investigating what and how we can best help our patients to use pain science discoveries to guide patients towards recovery from chronic pain. With insights from the latest research, Lorimer will focus on modern pain education approaches, including the application of the fit-for-purpose model and the Resolve approach to care, present new resources and clinical tools to optimise your interventions and cover tips and tricks to enable and empower your patients to move forward.

This course will sharpen your understanding and maximise your clinical impact.

  • Using the Protectometer to optimize adaptation

Objectives

By the end of this course participants will:

  1. Understand the neurophysiological rationale for a biopsychosocial approach to the treatment of persistent pain.
  2. Understand how visual illusions highlight different characteristics of perception including the complexity of pain.
  3. Differentiate injury and pain within a healthcare encounter
  4. Differentiate between constructivism-based and didactic education models
  5. Understand the influence of clinician language and treatment approach on patient perceptions and outcomes
  6. Understand the variables that promote the precision and integrity of body-related neural maps

Lorimer Moseley AO

Lorimer is Bradley Distinguished Professor, Professor of Clinical Neurosciences and Foundation Chair in Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia. He has over 30 years clinical experience working with people in persistent pain, has authored hundreds of articles, multiple books and chapters and continues to present keynote lectures globally. His community outreach and whole of community education initiatives are internationally renowned. His work is cited in clinical guidelines internationally. He is an honoured member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, an Honorary Fellow of the ANZCA Faculty of Pain Medicine and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. In 2020, he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia, Australia’s second highest civilian honour, for ‘distinguished service to humanity at large in the fields of pain and its management, science communication, education and physiotherapy.
