María is a Mexican Physiotherapist who works in private practice (Physio Villarreal) treating patients with persistent pain. She has a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy (2015) from the University of Otago, New Zealand, where she began her greatest interest in the study of pain. In 2018 she finished her studies at the University of South Australia, where she completed a Professional Certificate in Pain Sciences. María has worked in the development of postgraduate study programs for different Universities in Mexico, integrating the subject of Pain Clinic to the programs and teaching it. She is the creator of audiovisual content in pain education and founder of the site www.neurocienciadeldolor.com. She has developed pain neuroscience courses since 2016 taught in different parts of the world for health professionals.
María is currently an active member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and is passionate about pain research and has some publications related to the subject.
